As we close this month of March, which is also a celebration of women's history #womenshistorymonth, I’d like to pay tribute to Elsa Peretti who left for another realm on March 18 at the age of 80. Famous jewellery designer and designer, she was born in Florence (Italy) in 1940, and grew up in Rome and Switzerland. After studying interior design in Rome, she became a model in Barcelona (Spain) before moving to New York to work for the famous American fashion designer Halston, followed by many others… She rubbed shoulders with the biggest celebrities, Andy Warhol, Liza Minelli, Cher, but also the greatest photographers. In 1975, she was even immortalised by Helmut Newton! In 1974, she became a designer for Tiffany & Co. and revolutionised the jewellery industry by making silver chic and precious. Tiffany & Co, an American company founded in New York in 1837 and you know I love this city very much (reread Spring in NYC). No less than 30 timeless and modern collections with among the most famous: Open heart, Bean, Bone cuff, Lacquer bangle ... She who loved to travel (alone) was inspired by know-how and techniques from around the world. She also created many accessories and objects for the home ... "Style is to be yourself." Elsa Peretti Her creations for this house belongs to history, several of them are part of the permanent collections of the largest museums:
You can find her collections for Tiffany & Co by clicking here: LINK. Elsa Peretti was also a philanthropist, in 2000 she created the Nando Peretti Foundation (NPF), a foundation in honour of her father. Countless projects have emerged in favour of the environment, education, women's rights ... An artist with a big heart. The first time she liked one of my Instagram posts, I felt so blessed. To tell the truth, I don't know if it was her or someone from her team who saw my photos, and yet it's like somehow we were connected. She's the kind of woman I wish I had in my life. I’d have loved to meet her. Maybe in another incarnation. This woman will be my inspiration forever ... I'm lucky enough to own one of these famous Bone cuffs, I only wear it on very special occasions, and I wore it during my interview for the late night show in Athens. The embodiment of strength and femininity, this cuff represents to me the modern elegance of an independent and visionary woman. And to tell my Solo Wedding in Santorini on the biggest Greek TV channel, this jewel was essential for me, like a kind of talisman, a protection. Check the Article: TV Interview - Behind the Scenes I also wore it in Paris for the beautiful wedding of gay friends (reread Superwomen 3). It was written in the 2016 Tiffany catalog: Bold and powerful yet feminine and unpretentious, just like the women it was created for, the Bone cuff has become a mainstay in the world of fashion and design. An incredible woman who has crossed ages, and has never stopped building / rebuilding herself, always staying true to who she was. A great example of how creativity, art, can transcend a human being and vice versa. Keep shining Elsa, you are now a star among the stars! Reread my Series Superwomen:
Have a wonderful week! Love & Joy, L.

I hope you’re enjoying the effects of the new moon, and you’ve decluttered as I recommended to you last week in my article Detox Your Life. Spring is here, well in theory, because it’s not the 10 degrees of temperature predicted these days in my city that will bring me out of my cave. For those who follow me regularly, you know how much I love NYC. And in fact, the very first time I went there was in spring 2013! I love this city so much that I plan to celebrate in 2027, the 10th anniversary of my Solo Wedding 😊 In the meantime, I went to dig through my photo archive and decided to show you a little more New York this week. Nothing more symbolic than tulips to represent this season ... If the city and bay of New York were discovered in 1524, it didn’t take this name before 1664 when the English conquered it from the Dutch. Initially, it was even French because it was discovered on behalf of François 1er. At the end of the 18th century, accompanying strong demographic growth, the city developed according to a Hippodamian urban plan, like a grid. So easy to walk around and get your bearings! Today, it’s the largest city in the United States with more than 8,300,000 inhabitants (20 million inhabitants with its suburbs) for an area of 302.6 square miles (784 km2). It’s also the most populous English-speaking city in the world. This city calls for curiosity and is definitely very different from European cities. Yet the atmosphere seems familiar to us, the Empire State Building, the Rockefeller Center, Broadway, Time Square, the yellow cabs, the police, everything reminds us of the movies and series we have watched ... The architecture is really fascinating in this city, and I’ve already explained the construction of the Rockefeller Center. But my favourite thing about spring is of course the famous Central Park! With its 341 hectares of greenery, 2.5 miles (4 km) long, with its many trails and lakes, it’s the perfect place to recharge. Created from scratch, it took 13 years of construction before it was completed in 1873. As nature comes back to life, we appreciate its beauty and benefits even more ... On foot, by taxi, bus, metro, bicycle, there are many ways to get around, but crossing the city by rickshaw is the most fun (when there’s no traffic jam ...). Let’s get out of the city to admire the Statue of Liberty. From its full title “Liberty Enlightening the World”, this neoclassical copper statue with a steel structure weighs 225 tons and stands 151ft (46m) high, but 305ft (93m) in total on its concrete and granite plinth. Donated by France in 1886 to the United States to celebrate the centenary of the American Declaration of Independence. This is the work of 3 men: Eugène Viollet-le-Duc (Architect), Auguste Bartholdi (Sculptor) and Gustave Eiffel (Engineer). Visits weren't allowed when I was there, so I just photographed her on the ferry to Staten Island. It remains a very moving meeting. One of my dreams is to fly over the city by helicopter, you’re not surprised if you’ve read my Series of Articles In the Air. Each time, the weather prevented me, but I keep it on my list 😊, maybe next time ... Till then, a very nice video at the end of this article. Reread my Previous Articles: You can read all my travel articles here: link. Happy Spring to all! Love & Joy, L. Some of you may have detoxified your body in January, after the holiday season. And as spring approaches, no doubt you plan to clean up and declutter your house. In my case, I have a much more holistic approach that I practice every month, right after the new moon, which is a good time for regeneration and renewal. After My Solo Wedding in Santorini, I chose to harmonise myself with the lunar cycle to benefit from her energetic influence. Very judicious since my zodiac sign is Cancer and the Moon is my planet ... (I took the photo below from France – Blue Moon - October 31, 2020) Your body To feel good, nothing better than taking care of your body. For the occasion, a full body and face scrub, manicure, pedicure, we cleanse ourselves from head to toe, and for those who can, a bath to relax, a sauna or hammam even better ... With the sanitary restrictions, not everyone has the opportunity to go in nature, but of course being able to walk in a park, a forest or on the beach is extremely beneficial. A tip I use, I watch relaxation videos with the sounds of nature, and more specifically of the ocean, with a little imagination, we can feel good easily! (Video later in the article). A specific exercise is a plus, before I’d have told you swimming, with the pools closed, today I prefer dancing, first of all because that's my passion, then because my whole body works and it helps eliminate water retention. And to detoxify from the inside, vary your food for a few days, avoid fatty and sugary food, consume beetroot which is an excellent cleanser, and drink a lemon squeezed in lukewarm water as soon as you wake up. If your eating habits are hard to change, try having a smoothie a day, it's easier to add new food than to take them out, and at least you'll get plenty of fruits and veggies without realising it. And obviously sangria doesn’t count hahaha. My favourite detox: spinach leaves, beetroot, kiwi. Variation: salad, cucumber, lemon, honey. Above all, drink a lot of water to help eliminate toxins. Obviously, you can apply all this several times a month, listen to your body. Your Environment Once a month, check your cupboards, or even alternate, a different one every month: clothes, medicine, freezer, children's toys ... Tidy up, clean, recycle, resell or give away, lots of websites, apps and organisations, give new life to your objects, you’re doing a good deed for our world and for the planet! To benefit even more from the positive effects of energies, you can apply Feng Shui. Marie Diamond is the high priestess of this practice, she looked after the house of Steven Spielberg, Bill Gates etc. and on her website you can get a free personalised report, full of information: link. And if we added a plant here, we removed this broken lamp we’ll never repair, maybe some curtains, really it's not that complicated ... Watch again my video to enhance your place: Your Mind I keep telling you about the benefits of meditation, and yes again, this is a great opportunity to clear your head & to prepare it to receive more. Any form of relaxation to calm your mind and get rid of the superfluous is welcome. For my part, I use:
Detoxifying your mind also means not using your phone, the internet or TV for a day! And why not going to the beach, remember my video: Your Life Precisely, sorting out your everyday life, like cleaning your phone! Save your photos of the month, erase those that are unnecessary, for example all the screenshots that are no longer useful... Do the same with apps and emails. Don’t forget to unsubscribe from ads and promos you never check. Delete all unnecessary cookies. Think to cancel subscriptions you no longer need. And exit toxic people from your contact list and/or social media. When you do this once a month, it doesn't take too long, and you quickly get used to doing it without it being a chore. If necessary, set yourself a reminder, for example every first Saturday of the month. I invite you to watch my video on recharging your energy: My last tip: You pick a task from your to-do list - you know the one that keeps growing with lots of stuff you postpone - and you stick to it. You’ll feel so liberated afterwards that your energy will be boosted for several days. And very often, doing this task is much less painful than you think. Previous Articles: Access to all my Videos: Link. After my last article Women in Space, I told myself that a little tour of the moon would be nice (video at the end) ... Happy regeneration and a Happy New Moon! Have a very good week! Love & Joy, L. International Women's Day is coming, and I never miss an opportunity to speak out on this day of the year. You now know my series Superwomen, articles in the form of a manifesto where I unveil my beliefs and values, my support for women, but also for the LGBTQ community, in favour of equity & equality for each luminous being on this planet. After February - re-read last article - in which I mentioned my ability to bounce back and pursue my dreams, today I return to my dearest wish, to someday visit Mars. I have already mentioned it several times: And then, with the perfect landing of Perseverance on Mars recently - the new exploratory robot from NASA (US National Aeronautics and Space Administration) - I was even more eager to share this special interest with you. Below are images of Perseverance sent just after landing (Photo Credit: NASA): So today I’d like to highlight these women who have helped change our vision of the future by changing our perception on Earth! Valentina Tereshkova, Russian, was the first woman in space in 1963, just 2 years after the first Russian man, Yuri Gagarin. Until today she remains the only woman to have flown solo! As in many fields, they had to show perseverance, courage, and compromise to combat stereotypes and ignorance. Yet since the 1960s, it has been proven that women are more resistant to loneliness, pain, heat, cold ... Despite this, it took almost 20 years for this to happen again with Svetlana Savitskaïa in 1982 (a Soviet again), then the first American, Sally Ride in 1983, and a French in 1996 Claudie Haigneré. As a reminder: Astronaut = American astronaut Spationaute = French astronaut Cosmonaut = Russian astronaut In the future, let's count on NASA's Artemis mission, including 9 women out of 18 astronauts, to make the first woman walk on the moon. But also, Alyssa Carson, 19, the youngest astronaut in the world in training, for NASA, who should be one of the first astronauts on Mars! Have you seen the movie the Hidden Figures? Incredible one (2016) that received numerous awards. Based on a true story, it tells how a group of 3 African American mathematicians contributed to several NASA missions in the 1960s. In fact, NASA just named one of their buildings Mary W. Jackson after one of them. The Series Away on Netflix with the fabulous actress Hilary Swank, commander of the first space team to Mars. But also, the Series Right Stuff on Disney Plus, recounting the beginnings of NASA and the first American in space. Based on real events, the story is set in the 1950s during the cold war, and aptly shows the mentalities of the time and the struggle of women for more respect!
Even today, remember that only 10% of astronauts in the world are women, mainly due to a lack of candidates. The ESA (European Space Agency) has just opened applications to everyone, no age limit but you must have a degree in medicine, science or engineering. Don’t hesitate!! My childhood dream was to become an astronaut, today I know that I’’ll go to space and more specifically to Mars, as a tourist! And yes, I don’t fit the admission criteria unfortunately, but my mission is here, to share my story, My Solo Wedding in Santorini on our beautiful blue planet, and maybe I'll continue to share it beyond in the future 😊 Courage is simply the willingness to be afraid and act anyway. Robert Anthony Inspiring people to be themselves & to stretch their limits, is the mission that I’ve chosen to take with pride. My Previous Articles:
My video in honour of Women's Day. You’ll find it also on my social media & on this website! Remember the time when women weren't allowed to wear pants or to be a doctor (and it's still the case in some countries)... At the end of this article, the video of the last spacewalk, on March 5, 2021, from the International Space Station for repair. For the occasion, a duo composed of a woman and a man! Kate Rubins from NASA and Soichi Noguchi from JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). Women & Men, be a dreamer, for yourself but also as an example to show the world that anything is possible! Sky’s the limit... Happy International Women’s Day! Keep shining my babes, we are all stars!! Love & Joy, L. |
